a bit about me
My first name Marica, 真理果 in Japanese, means true fruit. Friends also call me Petrey, pronounced like petri in petri dish. I'm a musician, film producer/director/editor, polyglot, and former journalist.
Girl Swallows Nightingale, is where I spend most of my free time as the lead singer-songwriter, producer and band leader. Feature length films that I have in the works right now are Kaneko's Owl, an independent drama shot entirely in Oakland, CA, and a documentary called The Black (W)hole.
I'm always open to additional work as a film producer, director, and editor when projects are the right fit. I'm especially drawn to projects involving new technology, quirky characters, dreamy or epic landscapes, anything with moving bodies (dancers, athletes, action, animals) and stories or shoots that require a sense of adventure from everyone in the cast and crew.
My other passions include traveling to the kinds of places most people avoid, learning languages, hiking, escaping into mythologies, sci-fi, fantasy, history, shooting pool, and spending time with my friends and family.
Thanks for checking out my work. Be sure to sign up for my newsletter if you want to keep up with my latest projects.
